Bhutan in 21st century

It was great opportunity to join in this ICT module which is an eye opener in this 21St century. In the first session we were introduced to the differences between digital natives and the digital immigrants. People born after 1980 are digital natives but those born before 1980 are digital immigrants. And many of our colleagues fall under the later one. Digital natives are born in a digital world. They learn to live in the digital world at an early age, love to cut and paste. They prefer visual information over text unlike the digital immigrants. They are skilled at using cell phones and  internet facilities and vice versa.shown below is the of  digital native classroom in Bhutan. They are following the paperless in the class where this idea really helps both the humans as well as nature and environment.

We also discussed the importance of ICT in education  and  the need of ICT in education, how teaching and learning is done and taken place through ICT in 21st century world. The learners will learn more with ICT together with the other sources like the teachers knowledge and text book. There is a need of ICT in education to expand access and improve the quality. It creates a real learner centered learning making it effective for all anytime and anywhere. Today’s learners are more advanced due to the different informative tools like the use of text, audio, video and flash.
Following pictures are some of the evidence of  digital immigrant classroom in Bhutan.

We sholuldnt let our students in that stage instead our 21st century administrators need to be effective instructional and technological leaders in their schools, actively participating in the selection and implementation of the tools teachers will use to engage students and improve learning. In the past, IT departments were tasked with making technology decisions, with much of the technology focus concerned with blocking access to inappropriate content. Effective selection of modern technology tools requires understanding of the instructional needs and goals of modern educators. 21st century administrators should expect teachers to demonstrate how tools like blogs, wikis, Google apps, Twitter, and other social networking and technologies can be used to support students in meeting the expectations that have been set forth for a 21st century classroom. Therefore our government should always take the things in positive way and work hard to promote such facilities in remote school.
