Bhutan in 21st century

It was great opportunity to join in this ICT module which is an eye opener in this 21St century. In the first session we were introduced to the differences between digital natives and the digital immigrants. People born after 1980 are digital natives but those born before 1980 are digital immigrants. And many of our colleagues fall under the later one. Digital natives are born in a digital world. They learn to live in the digital world at an early age, love to cut and paste. They prefer visual information over text unlike the digital immigrants. They are skilled at using cell phones and  internet facilities and vice versa.shown below is the of  digital native classroom in Bhutan. They are following the paperless in the class where this idea really helps both the humans as well as nature and environment.

We also discussed the importance of ICT in education  and  the need of ICT in education, how teaching and learning is done and taken place through ICT in 21st century world. The learners will learn more with ICT together with the other sources like the teachers knowledge and text book. There is a need of ICT in education to expand access and improve the quality. It creates a real learner centered learning making it effective for all anytime and anywhere. Today’s learners are more advanced due to the different informative tools like the use of text, audio, video and flash.
Following pictures are some of the evidence of  digital immigrant classroom in Bhutan.

We sholuldnt let our students in that stage instead our 21st century administrators need to be effective instructional and technological leaders in their schools, actively participating in the selection and implementation of the tools teachers will use to engage students and improve learning. In the past, IT departments were tasked with making technology decisions, with much of the technology focus concerned with blocking access to inappropriate content. Effective selection of modern technology tools requires understanding of the instructional needs and goals of modern educators. 21st century administrators should expect teachers to demonstrate how tools like blogs, wikis, Google apps, Twitter, and other social networking and technologies can be used to support students in meeting the expectations that have been set forth for a 21st century classroom. Therefore our government should always take the things in positive way and work hard to promote such facilities in remote school.

Reflection on informative tool.

As of now we all should be familiar with teaching strategies in the 21st century.  I am now quite familiar on different informative tools as very useful websites, audio and videos, graphics, encyclopedias, etc. These resources are very useful especially for the teachers to teach in our daily teaching learning processes. It helps the learners to develop different skills such as, Critical thinking, Collaborative learning, Communication,   Creative thinking and Creativity.Using ICT tools in our day to day lessons saves our precious time and give right information.
Being a teacher of 21st century world we should be able to find our own solution to help the learners to learn better by using different strategies for different levels of learners with interesting activities. And I have designed an activity show below that will help students boost their interest of learning ,which motivates them to explore more. While designing this activity what I have learned is how to copy the source link and paste it in the activity that I design where this is easier for students to browse the information quicker.

Moreover I learned how to use internet to search information and use that information in informative way like shown below I used the information appropriately with the activity I mean to design.

Therefore, I am happy that I could really learn more to self explore to motivate the learners in learning further and would like to implement different strategies and use various activities to promote their learning for their successful life.

Financial Literacy from the use of ICT

Our ancestor has evolved with the stage of batter trading for the management of their own needs.  The management of financial system was not very much used to with them. The ministry of finance as a sole authority in our country has managed all the financial work for government. It was only in 1968 the first commercial bank started functioning for the general public. The use of ICT has brought lots of changes to the banking system. As a student I have been literate on the financial literacy through the use of ICT.
I still remember during my school days that, my parents took almost a day to withdraw/deposit money from the bank. My first learning experience on the financial management using ICT was when I was in Paro College of Education. The pocket money that I brought in the beginning of semester has been about to finish and I called my parents to send me some money to somebody who ever goes to paro. I doubt that it will take some time to reach me but my parents said you can receive the money today itself if you use the mobile banking of Bank of Bhutan. Then I feel so happy and started to ask information about the use of that app. With the use of ICT I am able to learn some of the following.
The given steps are involved while using the MBOB app:
Any individual having the bank account holder with Bank of Bhutan can access on the use of MBOB from the goggle play store.
   1. Download the MBOB app from play store

       2. Install it in your mobile
             3.    Create user id and pin code

When it is installed on your phone the dashboard will be displayed with the options to use.
   The items in dashboard are:
Accounts, Cards/Loans, Bill payments, Forex, Fund transfer, Scan and Pay, Recharge, Others and Interest rate.

From many of the above features the important one I have learned are as follows:

      Fund transfer:
This feature is used to transfer the funds to others from the user account and it is very easy and quick. The steps involved are:
a. Press on fund transfer button.

           b.   Then we will be given options to send through various banks. Choose the banks

c.       Insert the detail required like account number of fund receiver and amount to be transfer.

d.      Soon after the fill up of detail required the transfer button will be shown.
e.      Finally fund will be transferred and the message will be send to your mobile.

Recharge
This feature can be used to recharge our phone and broadband packages easily.
Steps involved are:
- Go to recharge button
-  Select from the options to recharge and then put the phone number with specific amount to recharge.

Bills payment/Utility bills
This feature will be used for bill payment like electricity bills and water bills from using this app.
The steps involved are:
 Go to the bills button
 - Select the option to pay bills like electricity, water, etc..
 - Insert the consumer number and the bill will be paid

The above information I learned with integrated ICT is very useful and relevant in our day to day life.  The changing of technology in banking function has made easier life for all the users. It not only educates us on the use of financial products but it saves the time and indirectly the expenses for us.

Thank you
