Camtasia

This assignment was very challenging because it needed internet facilities and it was difficult for the students who are staying as day scholar. But it was important activities to be learn to become a competent IT teacher. Camtasia Studio is a effective piece of video software for PC and users that enables us to record on-screen activity, edit and customize content, then share the video on numerous platforms. We have a notion that video editing is often associated with complex software but Camtasia is very easy and practical. I found most effective especially in group work, we can write anything and pass on to friends who will then edit and pass to anybody in the group. In fact, most of the helpful videos on YouTube that we use are recorded and edited using Camtasia.
After doing this assignment, we can unleash those creative skills and begin to make videos that we can be proud of. We found that camtasia studio is:
a) easy to share information
b) user friendly
c) professional appearance
d) useful features
e) ideal for informative videos
After doing this assignment with camtasia studio software,i have learnt many things which i have never experienced before. We are now confident that we can share our lessons, information with our friends using this software.

So I found the module ICT in education is very important and really useful in day to day life.

Things that i learnt from MS word activities:

In MS word activities I have learn many things and techniques. I have explained benefit of each activity.
The first activity was inserting a table.

To do this activity lots of skills needed to be used. This table helps me to frame the table in better ways. Henceforth I can use these skills and teach my students
The second activity is about the font size, making the letters bold, coloring the text, striking the lines of the text and under lining the letters etc.

From this activity I have learn how to strike text and change the color of the text also. Now I am confident to do font activities after doing the activity.
The third activity is about formatting the paragraphs and it was really challenging. To complete the activities I tried very hard and I could finish them. I have learned lot of skills and idea while doing the activities. Now I can really make my writing activities beautiful in the computers.

The fourth and fifth activities are to insert the shapes and grouped it. These activities I found little easier than other activities. But lots of skills I explored after doing them. Now I am confident to do such activities and teach to my students.

The sixth activity was inserting the equations. These activities are also very interesting and learn many things. Henceforth I can use these skills in Mathematics lessons and framing questions.

So lastly MS words activities really help me to become a competent future IT teacher.

To make video using PPT(PowerPoint) and Camtasia

Video is one of the most powerful medium for learning. PowerPoint(PPT) slides can also be used when the tutorial screen will be displayed. The text is usually presented by bullet points, using the “fade” animation to reveal points as the narrator speaks.
Steps for producing a quality video using PPT and Camtasia. Following are some of the steps i learned while editing video
1.     We should decide the size of the video:
Web video= 800 x 450 pixels
Big screen= 1280x720 pixels

2.     Select the effect of PPT animation:
Eg: PPT has
ü  first bullet point,
ü  first and second bullet point and so on…

3.     Then record the narration:
Using Camtasia PPT Add-Ins narrate in real time.
Or
Create MP4 audio file. It helps you to control when you begin to edit the video in Camtasia.

4.     Now import the PPT and audio files into Camtasia:
First add the audio file to the timeline. Add caption and transitions if needed.

5.     Finally export the finished work to video format:
Export the video and then save the Camtasia file.
Recording overview.
1.     Open the PPT(PowerPoint) and use Camtasia Add-Ins. Open the presentation which you are going to record and click on the Add-Ins tab.
2.     Record the narration with your PPT presentation.
OR
1.     Record the presentation
2.     Record the narration after the PPT recording
3.     Producing a Screenshot.

5.     Finally export the finished work to video format:
Export the video and then save the Camtasia file.
Recording overview.
1.     Open the PPT(PowerPoint) and use Camtasia Add-Ins. Open the presentation which you are going to record and click on the Add-Ins tab.
2.     Record the narration with your PPT presentation.
OR
1.     Record the presentation
2.     Record the narration after the PPT recording
3.     Producing a Screenshot.

Simulation with the use of ICT

What is simulation?
Simulation is the production of  a computer model of something, especially for the purpose of study. Simulations can be used to provide a fertile learning environment for students. The use of simulated activities in education is widely becoming recognized as an important tool in schools. This idea will really help both the educators and learners because it gives the exact clue of the situation. Actually I don’t have the idea what it is but after joining ICT class I gained many knowledge on it and even I have created a simulated animation on four season and advertisment on uniqueness of my locality which it is shown  below.

simulated drawing on my locality;
After creating this simulated drawing I have seen many benifits of using it;                    Simulations are often cheaper to create than their real life counterparts.
  • They are easier to construct
  • Simulations remove the element of danger from the situation. For example, you can "interact" with a Bengal tiger in a simulation quite safely.
  • Simulations can be paused, whereas real life cannot. Pausing allows more time for students to assess what's going on.
Activities that promote learning tend to meet the following criteria:
  • They simulate an activity that is "real", and so it can be said that they are "virtually real". They simulate the activity so well that there is little difference between the simulated environment and the real one, and the same kind of learning experience can take place.

  • They are "hands-on", involving students so they become participants, not mere listeners or observers. Students learn better from their own experiences than having others' experiences related to them.

  • They are motivators for learning. Student involvement in the activity is so deep that interest in learning more about the activity or its subject matter develops.
  • They are tailored to the student. When simulations are designed specifically for their audience, they can take developmental requirements into consideration.
  • They are inspirational. Student input is welcome and activities are designed to encourage students to enhance the activity by contributing their own ideas.
  • They are developmentally valid. Simulations take into account the students' developmental level.
  • They are empowering. Students take on responsible roles, find ways to succeed, and develop problem solving tools as a result of the interaction.
The teacher's role used to be that of presenter of facts to students who absorb information like passive sponges. Most teachers will recognize that role as having changed. Simulations add a new dimension to the learning experience and develop the teacher's role even further.
Thank you

Fun learning editing

watch my video

Fun learning editing
Mr. Chencho Dorji a famous Bhutanese film camera man does both shooting and editing of Bhutanese films and series. It was my hobby in learning all those things. I secretly keep on watching what other does but fortunately I got a chance that my lecture assigned us a work to use our own creativity to design any of the idea that comes in our mind. So as and then i thought of making video of my on own. It was very challenging for the first time for me to edit a video clip. I tried my best with the help of my friends and I explored to get software to edit the clip. Being a student I can’t afford to buy software on my own. I have down loaded free software called Wondershare video editor. This video editor has many advantages like we are able to record our own voice and import  it in the video. To know more you can watch the video sample of mine.
A friend of mine has helped  in shooting a video for me as I have acted in the clip. I started editing the video after the shoot. The software can be used after downloading from goggle play store freely.  The steps I have taken to edit my video using the software is as shown below:
v  Click import to browse your file folder and then select the videos you need. This video in video software provides a users album to help you manage all added videos, so you can gain easy access to in later video editing.
v  Drag and drop a source video to the video timeline, and then drag another video you want to insert to the timeline. Then drag the adjustment frame to adjust the clip.
v  Add required audio to the imported video and insert the effects.
v  Adjust the time on every adjustment with audio and video.
v  After all the adjustment are done click on publish to finalize the video.
After editing, this software gives an option to publish the clip online also. Though editing of video is quite challenging but as work with our interest it really gives us learning. The sample of video I have learned to edit is shared here. Have fun in watching and learn with your own interest.
 Thank you.

ICT Forum Discussion

The Forum discussion is the one of the most important process of learning and sharing information because we could react to content, share challenges, teach each other, learn by stating and understanding, clarify assumptions, experiment, own new skills and ideas. The advantages of forum are as follows:

1. Individualization of learning:
Personal responses to forum topics are not limited in time or the length. We have the freedom to continue dialogues about the topics that interested those most.

2. Encouragement of critical thinking: Important topics and discussion encouraged us to take a position on issues. To respond to a forum topic requires organized thought and synthesis of concepts introduced in class. If  our views were challenged, he or she typically adds carefully considered reasons to back up previous comments.
3. Learners autonomy: Students have the flexibility to reflect on their thoughts and read the responses of others. Many learners have stated that they routinely discussed the forum topics with friends, family and colleagues outside of class before putting their comments online.

4. More democratic exchange: The learners who may feel intimidated or unmotivated to speak. Therefore discussions, even in small groups, do not allow equal time to all learners. In the online forum, each learner has a voice that will be heard by anyone who chooses to read his or her comments
5. More time to formulate responses and opinions: Because the forum discussions occur completely online, learners have the flexibility to add their input when they are prepared. Some choose to answer questions immediately, while others prefer to consider the responses of others first. Undergraduate trainees are often much more comfortable discussing topics online after reading the viewpoints of the more experienced learners. The learners are encouraged to revisit past topics during the course, as their opinions changed
6.  Flexibility and convenience: We set our own schedule for the forum. A forum is available at all times of day or night to accommodate school, work, and family demands. The forum is accessible from any Internet connection via the World Wide Web, allowing us to participate even when we were sick or traveling.

So in I like to conclude that forum discussion is effecting way of learning. I  have learn many important things from friends, tutors and shared my knowledge and experiences.

Bhutan in 21st century

It was great opportunity to join in this ICT module which is an eye opener in this 21St century. In the first session we were introduced to the differences between digital natives and the digital immigrants. People born after 1980 are digital natives but those born before 1980 are digital immigrants. And many of our colleagues fall under the later one. Digital natives are born in a digital world. They learn to live in the digital world at an early age, love to cut and paste. They prefer visual information over text unlike the digital immigrants. They are skilled at using cell phones and  internet facilities and vice versa.shown below is the of  digital native classroom in Bhutan. They are following the paperless in the class where this idea really helps both the humans as well as nature and environment.

We also discussed the importance of ICT in education  and  the need of ICT in education, how teaching and learning is done and taken place through ICT in 21st century world. The learners will learn more with ICT together with the other sources like the teachers knowledge and text book. There is a need of ICT in education to expand access and improve the quality. It creates a real learner centered learning making it effective for all anytime and anywhere. Today’s learners are more advanced due to the different informative tools like the use of text, audio, video and flash.
Following pictures are some of the evidence of  digital immigrant classroom in Bhutan.

We sholuldnt let our students in that stage instead our 21st century administrators need to be effective instructional and technological leaders in their schools, actively participating in the selection and implementation of the tools teachers will use to engage students and improve learning. In the past, IT departments were tasked with making technology decisions, with much of the technology focus concerned with blocking access to inappropriate content. Effective selection of modern technology tools requires understanding of the instructional needs and goals of modern educators. 21st century administrators should expect teachers to demonstrate how tools like blogs, wikis, Google apps, Twitter, and other social networking and technologies can be used to support students in meeting the expectations that have been set forth for a 21st century classroom. Therefore our government should always take the things in positive way and work hard to promote such facilities in remote school.
